We traveled back to Swansea for another day of beach cleaning! We were joined by the team from Admiral Insurance to clean up Swansea Beach. Ten volunteers, and Pepper the dog, set out in 30 degree heat to search the beach for litter.
Despite the extreme heat, we continued on with our litter picking. It was a great day to talk, network, and work together as a team to help the environment. We always find interesting things on Swansea Beach. In the past we’ve found shopping trollies, BBQs, toys and more. This time, some of the more unusual things we found included:
- A gumsheild
- Roughly 9 socks
- 2.5 pairs of sunglasses
- Sports equipment
- Tent poles
After a short break from the heat to rehydrate, the team decided to divide and conquer. Half returned to the sands, whilst the other half took to the local park area next to the beach to make sure absolutely no litter was left behind.
Over the space of two hours we collected up an impressive 12 bags of litter weighing in at 25.86kgs! The team from Admiral were great fun, determined to collect as much as possible from their local beach. We want to say a huge thank you for their time and effort!
