We teamed up with Forest Green Rovers Community and their partner Grundons to clean up Weston-Super-Mare beach.
Starting with a quick talk about safety and why beach cleans are so important, we then divided up into teams. Taking off across the sands to collect up what litter we could find. Litter blown onto the beach tends to get caught in sand dunes, so that was where we headed first. We found lots of plastic and rubbish amongst the plants, predominantly microplastic pieces.
The children wasted no time in getting stuck in collecting up everything we could find. After two hours in the sunshine we had managed to collect 29 bags of litter weighing in at 35.36 kilos. An amazing achievement!
We want to say a massive thank you to Forest Green Rovers Community for teaming up with us for another event. It was great to work together to tidy up this stretch of coastline!
