We cleaned up Kingsway Sports Pavillion and playing fields with our charity partner ProCook.
Staff from ProCook, and trustees from Life’s a Beach worked together on another litter pick to help keep our local area clean. Despite the heavy rain throughout the afternoon, 12 volunteers and 2 dogs gathered to give up their time and do their part.
On first glance, the field looks very clean and litter-free, however our volunteers quickly found plenty of rubbish caught in the hedges.
We found lots of drinks bottles and food packaging, blown out of bins by the wind or discarded by people using the park. Unusually though we also found the following:
- A shopping trolley
- A shopping basket full of litter
- A padlock
- A vintage cricket ball
- A ceramic chimney pipe
Together we managed to collect up 14 bags, making up a total of 68.05 kilos of litter, a huge achievement!! We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who gave up their time to help us on our mission to eradicate single-use plastic and litter.
