We kicked off 2025 by welcoming Durrington All Saints C of E Infant School as the newest member of our Waste Less initiative!

We began the day with a whole-school assembly, where pupils learned about plastic waste—what it is, how and why it ends up on our beaches and in the ocean, and the harm it causes to the environment. The students then shared fantastic ideas on how we can all live more sustainably.

After the assembly, each class took part in our decomposition timeline workshop. Working in teams, students guessed how long it takes for everyday household rubbish to break down if not disposed of properly or recycled. Each year group placed items along a timeline and were shocked to discover just how long common waste items take to degrade—if they ever truly break down at all!

Following a full day of workshops, we donated 110 reusable water bottles to the school, ensuring that every pupil has the tools to make more sustainable choices in the future.
A massive thank you to the staff of Durrington All Saints C of E Infant School for being so welcoming, and an even bigger thank you to the incredible pupils for their hard work and thoughtful ideas on how we can all contribute to a more sustainable future!
