We returned for another event with local brownie group, the 3rd Cam Brownies. x young people volunteered their evening, with the help of x adults, to make their local area litter free.
We first worked with the 3rd Cam Brownies last year in the winter. The volunteers worked using head torches to find the litter as the early evenings set in. This time we could all enjoy the evening sunshine as we walked around the local area in search of litter.
Our evening started with a quick talk about why recycling, and litter picking is so important. The Brownies all agreed that we have to do our best to prevent plastic pollution and litter as much as possible. We were really impressed by some their creative ideas about how we can all reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Joined by 19 volunteers we started from St Georges Church, setting off at 5:30pm. Working in pairs the volunteers had to use team work to manage the bag hoop and litter picks between them.
We found lots of microplastics, cigarettes buds, bottles and packets across our otherwise lovely walk amongst this nature walk.
After an hour of litter picking, we collected a bags of rubbish weighing in at an amazing 3.22 kilos. This brings Cam 3rd Brownies, total to x kilos of litter collected with us across both their cleans! An amazing achievement.
